In news not centering around Peyton Manning, the Denver Broncos have decided to sign former New England Patriots center, Dan Koppen. Koppen missed all of last season with a broken ankle. The Patriots were unwilling to move his replacement Dan Connolly off of center, thus leading to Koppen’s release.
The current Broncos center J.D. Walton does not have a lot of experience in a no huddle system, which Koppen does. Denver was also considering signing Manning’s former center Jeff Saturday, but he was picked up by the Green Bay Packers. The Broncos were in need of experienced lineman, this should fulfill that need, whether it be at back up or in the starting lineup.
